Even though you’re a responsible driver who has carried auto insurance for years, you probably don’t have time to sit down and parse your policy. There’s a lot of insurance jargon in it, anyway, so you might not get far even if you tried!
That is, you’d have trouble without this guide. To give you the tools you need to understand your car’s coverage, we’ve put together this auto insurance glossary.
Bodily Injury Liability: This is a long way of saying that if you hurt someone during an auto insurance accident and you find yourself facing a legal case, your policy can pick up the tab (up to your policy limits).
Collision Coverage: If you want your auto insurance to help you pay to repair your car after a crash, you’ll need collision coverage.
Comprehensive Coverage: Not all car damages are caused by accidents. If a tree falls on your ride or a thief makes away with it, comprehensive coverage can help you with the expense.
Deductible: This number is important! This is the amount you’ll have to pay after an accident before your coverage kicks in. A higher deductible will mean lower monthly auto insurance premiums, but make sure you don’t get stuck with a deductible you can’t comfortably pay when you need to call on your policy.
Property Damage Liability Coverage: Like bodily injury coverage, this part of your policy protects you against legal issues. The difference is that property damage will cover you if you’re held liable for – you guessed it! – property damage.
Now that you’re in the know about the lingo, you’re ready to get a great policy! Contact the professionals at Brown & Brown Insurance to help find the best policies for your vehicle and your lifestyle. Located in Anaheim, California, we serve all your auto insurance needs. Call us today!
